Steve M. Schmitz

President and Co-Founder

Mr. Schmitz began his working career in 1995 after graduating from Texas A&M University. Mr. Schmitz and his brother, John Schmitz, formalized their partnership in 1997 as B-29 Investments, LP (“B-29”) and Schmitz & Schmitz Properties, Inc. Mr. Schmitz currently serves as President of B-29 and gives direction and oversight to both the private equity team in Dallas, TX and the family office in Gainesville, TX.

Currently Mr. Schmitz works with the portfolio company of United Surface and Minerals.  Previous board seats include Silver Creek Oil and Gas and Axis Energy Services.  Within the family office, Mr. Schmitz closely monitors the activities of Merit Advisors.

Prior accomplishments include the formation, build out, and sale of Mesa Real Estate Partners. Mesa was formed in September 2011 as a private equity real estate fund based in Houston with a focus on net leased industrial properties leased to energy companies. Mesa’s portfolio was sold to American Realty Capital in July 2014. His role was Managing Partner and Investment Committee member. Mr. Schmitz was also directly involved in the formation and build out of Allied Productions Solutions. Allied was formed in August 2005 as a fabrication and assembly company for surface production equipment for the oil and gas industry. After acquiring or organically starting four plants, Allied was recapitalized by SCF Partners in May 2010 and then combined with four other SCF companies to create Forum Energy Technologies, which went public in May 2012. Also, Mr. Schmitz formerly served on the Board of Directors of SES Holdings during the early years of Select Energy Services and other SES subsidiaries.

Mr. Schmitz is married to Misty, and they have two children. He attended the college preparatory school Subiaco Academy in Subiaco, Arkansas and has served Subiaco on several boards. He currently is a member of the Subiaco Foundation Board. He also is a board member of the North Central Texas College Foundation Board. Other community involvement includes support and guidance to the local Boys & Girls Club and to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and School.
